I’ve always known that the batshit crazies in this country live in their own odd, reality defying bubbles. Then they are called on it and doubled down beyond reason.

You know the feeling? When someone says something so ridiculous that you want to laugh out loud but you can only do one of two things; node or ignore it? Well, that was today my friends.
It’s pretty sad when your co-workers are surprised when there is still electricity and internet. Apparently Obama is soooo muslim he wants to turn America into a muslim nation. Please. If that were true he would have welcomed al-Qaida in with open arms and bin Laden wouldn’t be being eaten by sea life right now. True the people that buy the product we sell are betting on the end of civilization as we know it, and I’m actually amused by the people who call in and order because they are so happy to order from a ‘good christian’ company. This amuses me on a level but for the most part it completely pisses me off.
First. We make a damn good product. It’s 100% US made, and it”s as durable as hell. Second, it’s a small family business that employs good hard working people. The people that run it are some of the nicestest people that I have ever worked for, however they do let religion get in the way of pretty much everything. So do the customers. The people from the church groups think they should give them special discounts simply because they are from a church and especially if they are from my employer’s church. They’re tax exempt why not get a discount by guilting good ‘god fearing christians’ into thinking thats what ‘god’ would want them to do. That’s bad for business. (keep in mind they give generously to their own church and community)
The other day I got a call. “I’m so glad your product is US made by a small family business, but MOST importantly it’s a CHRISTIAN business!” Why would it be the most important thing? Christian business’s have never ripped anyone off? Hardly.
An atheist works there, I’m sure a jew works there and a few other ‘lost souls’. That doesn’t diminish the quality and pride in the product does it? Hell no. I just had to get that out.
Also, I’m pretty proud of myself when they start in on the Obama conspiracy theories about he’s converting congress to communism… that he’s tapping everyone’s phones and trying to take away everyone’s guns. I am just so freaking proud of myself that I don’t just laugh out right and call them idiots. I do like these people, and I love working there for the most part, but there are days like today that make me wonder what it would be like to just be a freaking housewife and leave the workplace to someone who doesn’t have strong political and atheist views… then I remember… I hate cleaning house, so it’s off to work for me. So much for being a Martha Stewart type. )c:

Student Loan Idiocracy

So like most people who graduate from college and work hard at multiple jobs to merely pull down below 25K a year I’ve found that the way the Private student loan people do business is completely ass-backward idiotic. So I have all my federal loans consolidated and on income based, which is nice because I’m broke and don’t make a lot of money. However I don’t get that luxury with the ‘private’ loan people.
I was in economic hardship forbearance until January. I was told I would just need to fill out the paper work again but select a longer time period. Well, they refused to put me back into forbearance because I need to make at least two monthly payments before I can qualify again. That’s over $500. I asked the woman on the phone, “I couldn’t pay you before, which is why I was in forbearance. What would change in three months that would make it suddenly possible to start paying you know?” She said,”You have two degrees and should have absolutely no problem making that payment, after all you could skip a month or two on rent without getting kicked out. Then you wouldn’t have to ruin your credit by missing those payments. You can’t make smaller payments because we will just report it to the credit bureaus that you aren’t paying.”
WHAT?!!
Okay, first they cannot tell people not to pay their rent. WTF was this woman thinking??
Second, yes I have two degrees, but the jobs I have been hired at only hired me when I LEFT OFF my graduation date. Why? People with degrees tend to shop around more because they need to make more money and have more benefits so they can pay off those loans that follow them around til the day they die. Hell, I would quit a job I love if I was offered 25-30 an hour to do something I hated. It sucks to know I’m a sell out but deparation makes you do disgusting things.
Third, I maybe poor but I do have SOME common sense. My priorities are as follows; Shelter, Food, health and transportation. They may or may not be in that order but hey those are my top priorities, if and when I get married my spouse will fit in the first group. I’m sorry if paying a loan company that calls me daily and harasses me by calling me difficult and stupid. You guys calling me to threaten and break me down does not for a single second make me want to change those priorities for you.
I’m writing a letter to my senators, I’m sick of being harassed and not knowing if there’s a single thing I can do about it now that I’m so far behind. Hell, even if they just laugh at me at least I will have tried to get some answers. When all else fails; Just keep digging for more information.
